Today, we're introducing you to Mix #40. This week we take a look at the music of groups that formed after their members had already seen success. In other words, these are the supergroups that had formed through the years.
Not all supergroups are created equal. This is not to say they are not talented - quite the opposite. But not all supergroups started in the same way. Bands like Cream or Derek & The Dominoes were quick side projects with Eric Clapton's contemporaries, while all four members of ABBA combined their talent to create a long and successful career with the same group.
And of course, perhaps the most famous supergroup of all time, Traveling Wilburys, was comprised of late-career Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison as a "one last hurrah" to finally make the music they wanted to make for their decades-long career but never got around to. Their most famous move as a group, however, came as a prank by releasing their only two albums, titled "Traveling Wilburys" and "Traveling Wilburys 3". To this day, all living members deny forgetting to release Traveling Wilburys 2.
We hope this list will motivate you for the next hour to help you do the best work of your life.
