This summer I was lucky enough to land an internship at Gravyty, a technology company changing the landscape of fundraising for nonprofits. I spent 12 weeks with the team, specializing in marketing and lead generation. My role challenged me to combine what I learned in my first year of college with my previous experience, as an intern at Bitplay.today, a tech startup. Lucky for me, my time with Gravyty coincided with the company’s best quarter in history!
I was fortunate, because Gravyty’s co-founder and CEO, Adam Martel made it a point to work with me, directly. Through Adam’s leadership and hands-on approach I saw beyond marketing functions and got to learn about the company from many different angles.
I saw leadership in action, first hand – from sales & pipeline meetings, to live demos, strategy sessions and conferences. While these opportunities are often scarce for interns, at Gravyty, I had a front-row seat to the inner workings of a business and furthered my education in how successful entrepreneurs lean on strategy for success. I also got to have a little fun.
For some perspective on a strategically growing startup, when I began my internship at Gravyty in May 2018, the company counted 9 full-time employees. Today, Gravyty is 16 employees strong and each additional employee has joined to grow the company in a very specific function. What I’m learning is that to be successful, it’s important to surround yourself with the right people.
I’m grateful that Gravyty’s co-founders Adam and Rich welcomed me onto their team this summer. My internship was amazing and well-rounded. I was constantly challenged to learn and develop new business skills, while getting exposure to areas that interested me most. Every employee who works here has a voice, and I count myself as one among those voices. Gravyty’s work environment is the best I’ve ever been a part of and look forward to seeing this team’s footprint grow quickly!
