Dian Schaffhauser, senior contributing editor for THE Journal and Campus Technology, recently featured the work of the AAAC in her latest article, "AI Gaining Foothold in University Advancement." The article explores the AAAC's first benchmark study on artificial intelligence (AI) in the advancement industry, "The State of AI in Advancement Report." The report found that while 89 percent of organizations agree that AI could make advancement teams more efficient, only 28 percent are using AI in their work today or intend to within the next year, suggesting an educational gap in the uses of AI for advancement that the AAAC is focused on closing.

On Monday, March 11, 2019, the AI in Advancement Advisory Council (AAAC) – which was established in late 2018 – held its first in-person meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, using CASE’s Annual DRIVE/ Conference as the backdrop for the event. This is the first time that Advancement industry leaders and artificial intelligence early adopters convened for a day-long face-to-face meeting. Council leadership worked together to develop the context for the mission statement, outlined its goals, and established the need for bylaws.
